Throughout the course of this semester I have been able to learn a lot about entrepreneurship and have learned tools that will help me in the future. The biggest take away that I got from this class was to never be afraid to ask people for help. There are always people out there that have had their own experiences and have gone through success and failures. I have learned that most of the time they are willing to offer words of wisdom or ideas to help you. I have also learned about the importance of interviewing people. When we did the interviews for our leap project I was able to gain a lot of information that I had not previously thought about. The people that I interviewed brought ideas for me to include into my leap and offered support if I needed it. I will continue to use these skills in the future, whether I am starting my own business or being put into a new position in a job. It opened my eyes to see how many different resources are out there like the Nice Center and the NDSBDC who are willing to help. During these last years at college I will be more open to asking real life questions with my professors or anyone who is knowledgeable about the field of work I could possibly go into.

Looking down the road in 10 years would make me 30 years old. There are many things that I would like to have done by then. My sister and oldest brother are 32 and 31, I look at them and they have stable jobs and have started families of their own. Of course I would like to be married and having kids of my own by then. I would love to travel a little bit to see parts of the world that I haven’t seen yet. By that time in my life I hope that I will have a stable job that I actually enjoy. At the moment I have no idea what I want to do with my life. I know have the option of going to work at our family business to fall back on, but after working there this past summer I was unsure if I wanted to make a career out of that. If I end up going down a different career path I hope that it will be one that I love. I will use what I have learned in this class and apply it to my future. I have learned the importance of talking to people and the importance of asking questions. Being young and a student at the moment gives me an opportunity to talk to people who are successful because I have learned that those people are usually willing to help students out. By talking to people and creating good relationships it opens the door to having different opportunities. By creating good relationships it provides me with insight of other peoples experiences, whether it be in the workforce or just recommendations on places to travel. I am unsure where I will be 10 years down the road, but one thing that I hope to be is happy. I want to enjoy the life that I am living and have a positive impact on others around me. I want to give others the opportunities that I have been lucky enough to have been given.
